🔥Favorite Tools & Machines: Little Smith Torch, Greenlion Saw, & Flex Shaft 🔥
These are definitely my favorite tools I use on a regular basis. My process has many steps, and honestly, I was intimidated by each one when I first started smithing 😂
I purposely chose to not speed up any of these videos because I wanted you to see the steps conveyed in real-time. There’s nothing rushed about this process. When I rush, I’m clumsy and I ruin things; I overheat and melt fine silver, I slip and saw into my own flesh, I break gorgeous stones. When I rush, I. Am. Destruction.
I use an acetylene-oxygen set up with my torch. It’s much hotter than propane, but it’s what I learned on and I fear switching at this point 🔥 My Greenlion saw frame is simple and classic, and that handle feels so satisfying in my palm. My husband gifted me the flex shaft a couple years ago for our anniversary because I was intimidated to invest such a substantial chunk of money in any one piece of equipment at the time (and yet I don’t blink an eye to throw 💴 down for pretty stones 😂). The time that I’ve saved with this flex shaft makes me wish I would have invested in it at the very beginning! These are just a few of the tools I use, but honestly, they’re the most fun (don’t tell the others, they’ll take it personally).
Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the gentle wisdom, immense patience, and hidden agenda of Bob Ross? As well as the genius of this audio remix? I sincerely feel this to my core, and even if you just close your eyes for a moment and listen to it, I hope you do too:) 💕 I remember my mom setting up her easel on Saturday mornings, turning on the television to Bob Ross’s program (that’s what we called video clips on the t.v. back then, kids), and hearing his gentle voice guide her through the steps of painting a landscape. It’s a memory I sincerely cherish, and one of her paintings is proudly displayed in my own studio today. 🌅
