Texas Art Shows & Travels

My oldest and dearest friend Ellie, helping me at Pecan Street Festival in Austin:)

Brent and I just returned from a round of Texas shows, highlighted with an extended visit with amazing friends.

This was the first time I’ve attempted to attend two shows at once, and it was a challenge, for sure! We were greeted and then delayed by hail & wind storms in Georgetown, Texas for the Red Poppy Festival. Thankfully, we were able to set up early Saturday morning, after which I abandoned my dearest friend and husband so I could go set up at the Sunset Valley Arts Fest.

Both days ended up being so windy that I really questioned whether I should be attempting any windy day shows. Brent and Ellie did a fantastic job at the Red Poppy Festival, and I was super gratuitous to have such wonderful people supporting me and my art!

Our second weekend was a wild one for sure! We did the Pecan Street Festival in Austin, and golly, what can say? If you’ve never considered the challenge of setting up for art shows, consider the chaos of an event with limited oversite. We pay a hefty price to attend many of these shows, and this one was one of the most expensive to date 😳

We estimated about 3,000 people walked past our tent every hour, with just a couple actually stopping to check out art. We observed a hit and run during set up, had folks attempt to lift items, and several unnerving outbursts from passers-by. Sadly, Pecan Street Festival has been struck from our list of future shows due to the lack of communication and over-site, but we have some killer suggestions about other Texas events to replace it!

Thanks to everyone who came out, supported all the artists, and even walked away with some of my favorite pieces made to date! It always blows my mind to see folks who have made purchases at events in years past, who come back wanting more! I sincerely thank y’all, from the bottom of my heart!

Next weekend I’ll be flying solo at the Little Craft Show in Springdale, Arkansas! One of my favorite events of the year! There will be an amazing variety of vendors this year, and if you’re looking for unique one-of-a-kind items for Mother’s Day, this will be your one-stop shopping opportunity! So come on out to Shiloh Square. You can find me under the pavilion, but feel free to make a hundred stops along the way 😂

May 19-21st I’ll be the Wildflower Festival in Richardson, Texas, and I cannot wait!!! This will be my last Texas show for the year, so come on out and see me:)

Cheers!
